Pectoral Implants
What are Pectoral Implants?
The pectoral muscle is the most prominent muscle in our upper chest. As we age, lose weight or after injuries, our pectoral muscles become ill-defined. A pectoral implant can give you a well-defined muscle in your upper chest, that will give you a more youthful and muscular appearance. The implant is made out of silicone and it is placed inside the muscle and deep enough so it feels natural.
Are You A Candidate for Pectoral Implants?
During your visit with Dr. Tamim, he will evaluate you and come up with the right treatment plan that fits your needs. Ideal candidates for temple implants would be a person who has an ill-defined pectoral muscle either genetically, through an injury, or after significant weight loss, that is not responding to healthy life style and exercise.
Surgical Technique
Pectoral implant surgery is done under IV sedation or general anesthesia in one of our operating rooms. It is generally done through a small incision near the armpit, we then create a pocket in the pectoralis muscle, closure is done with resorbable sutures.
What to Expect
Most patients see immediate results after pectoralis implant placement. And in general, recovery time is around 2 weeks. During that time, you will experience some swelling, soreness, and bruising. You will have to avoid strenuous activities for just the first 1-2 weeks. You are expected to see your optimal results in about one month following surgery. Detailed post-operative instructions will be provided to you to ensure proper healing.
