Gynecomastia Treatment

What is Gynecomastia?

It is a condition where men have excess breast tissue, which can be congenital, hormonal, due to certain medications including steroids, or after excessive weight gain.

Are You A Candidate for Gynecomastia Surgery?

During your visit with Dr. Tamim, he will evaluate your condition and determine if surgery is right for you. We will work with your physician to determine any underlying medical issue that can be contributing to your gynecomastia, such as hormone therapy, hormonal imbalance, steroid intake, or thyroid problems. But if you maintain a healthy life style and exercise, and can’t get rid of the excess chest tissue, then gynecomastia surgery may be right for you.

Surgical Technique

The procedure will be done under general anesthesia in one of our operating rooms. We start by removing excess fatty tissue from the breast with liposuction cannulas, and then excising excess breast glandular tissue with a small incision underneath the nipple that is rarely visible afterwards.

What to Expect

Following your surgery, most patients experience some swelling and bruising of the chest area. 80% of the final results is seen in the first 4-6 weeks after surgery. Patients are required to wear compression garment in the first few weeks to reduce the swelling. A detailed post-operative care instructions will be given after surgery to ensure optimal healing.
